HomeMy WebLinkAboutNational Safe Boating and Paddling Week 2022WHEREAS, Medina's proximity to Lake Washington and a variety of waterways brings residents and visitors to enjoy watersports and boating; and WHEREAS, A large number of Medina's residents of all ages engage in recreational boating and paddling-, and WHEREAS, a significant number of boaters, who lose their lives by drowning each year would be alive today had they worn their life jackets; and WHEREAS, the mission of United States Coast Guard Auxiliary, Flotilla 130-02-02, serving Medina and other Eastside communities, is to collaborate with local public safety personnel to promote safety through education and outreach; NOW, THEREFORE, 1, Jessica Rossman, Mayor of Medina, Washington, and on behalf of the City Council, do hereby proclaim the week of May 21­27 as SAFE BOATING and PADDLING WEEK And encourage all of Medina's residents to dedicate themselves to learning about and practicing safe boating, including wearing life jackets.
