PUBLIC COMMENT Due to remote conferencing there will be no contemporaneous public comments at the Park Board meeting. The agenda items are accessible on the City’s website at www.medina-wa.gov on Fridays prior to the Regular Parks and Recreation Board Meeting. Board Present via Zoom: Dickmann, Gray, Johnston, McMullen, Stengel, Bui (online at 4:06 PM) Emeritus Member: Martin, Youth Advisory Member: Lathia Board Absent: None Staff Present via Zoom: Sauerwein, Burns, Kellerman, Osada, Crickmore and Nations 2.PRESENTATIONS 1.Route 520 Impacts on Fairweather Park by City Manager Michael Sauerwein. City Manager Sauerwein asked the Park Board for feedback on what they are seeing in the park. The Park Board discussed the pros and cons of the options provided and offered input. 3.ANNOUNCEMENTS Gray thanked the Public Works department for their hard work keeping the Parks looking great. 4.APPROVAL OF PARK BOARD MINUTES ACTION: Motion Johnston second McMullen and carried by a 5-0 vote. # - # 1.Park Board Meeting of February 11, 2020 Recommendation: Adopt. PUBLIC COMMENT Deputy City Clerk Dawn Nations received two public comments by email and read them into the record. • Judy Sidell regarding whether or not to have a Port-a-Potty and determine locations at Fairweather and shared her observations. She reported excessive garbage at the park. • Laurel and Steve Preston thanked the staff for their continued work during these difficult times. They gave input regarding Fairweather Park and their strong objection to putting in a Port-a-Potty and suggested additional signage be put into place. 6. NEW BUSINESS 1. Seasonal Summer Employees Update by Ryan Osada, Director of Public Works Osada stated there are 2 seasonal Public Works employees but are waiting for City Hall to open in the coming Phases of Governor Inslee’s orders. Chief Burns gave update on the Lifeguard program. The guidelines are being researched on how the program will work due to the current guidelines for the Phased openings for the State. 2. Reopening Park Facilities by Ryan Osada, Director of Public Works Osada reported the bathrooms and tennis courts are open now. 3. Fairweather Park Work Party proposed dates: a) Thursday, May 28, 2020 at 10 AM and/or; b) Wednesday, June 3, 2020 at 10 AM. The Board decided on June 3rd for their park clean-up day. Dickmann will bring compost for the flower beds. Osada gave approval to spend $30 on mulch. 4. Park Report Reassignments: Fairweather & Lid: Stengal, McMullen, Bui Indian Trail: Johnston, Stengal, Bui Lake Lane: Martin and McMullen Medina Beach Park: Dickmann Medina Park: Johnston, Dickmann, Gray Viewpoint Park: Gray 7. Indian Trail No reports Lake Lane Gray reported looks good. Medina Beach Park Gray asked about goose droppings and possible solutions. Crickmore reported it is an ongoing battle. Crickmore reported 4 additional umbrellas will be added once the park opens up. Medina Park Johnson and Dickmann reported the grass looks great. Dickmann asked about tree clean up from pond. Crickmore gave update. Viewpoint Park No report. 9.
