CALL TO ORDER / ROLL CALL Chairperson Gray called the meeting to order at 4:00 PM. Board Present via Zoom: Bui, Dickmann, Gray, Johnston, McMullen, Moe Emeritus Member: Martin, Youth Advisor: Schubring Board Absent: Stengel Staff Present via Zoom: Sauerwein, Osada, Nations, Crickmore, Kellerman, Chief Burns 2. ANNOUNCEMENTS Chairperson Sarah Gray welcomed new Park Board Member Barbara Moe. 3. APPROVAL OF PARK BOARD MINUTES ACTION: Motion McMullen second Johnston and carried by a 6-0 vote. 1. Park Board Meeting of August 17, 2020 Recommendation: Adopt. Staff Contact: Dawn Nations, Deputy City Clerk 4. PUBLIC COMMENT None. 5. OLD BUSINESS 1. Medina Park - Revising Rules (MMC 12.24.025) for Dogs in the Park - Update Recommendation: Status Update. Staff Contact: Michael Sauerwein, City Manager City Manager Michael Sauerwein gave an overview of the proposed changes to the rules for dogs in Medina Park. He invited the Park Board to attend the Oct. 12 City Council meeting as Council will be discussing the revisions. 2. Tennis Courts Usage - Update Recommendation: Status Update. Staff Contact: Michael Sauerwein, City Manager City Manager Michael Sauerwein gave an overview of the proposed changes to the rules for tennis court usage. He invited the Park Board to attend the Oct. 12 City Council meeting as Council will be discussing the revisions. Park Board member Johnston thanked Mr. Sauerwein for the update. 6. NEW BUSINESS 1. 2021 Budget Ideas Recommendation: Discussion item and direction. Staff Contact: Ryan Osada, Public Works Director Public Works Director Ryan Osada gave an update on the 2021 budget for the Park Board. He asked for ideas from each board member. Board members gave input. 2. Discuss Fall Bulb Planting The board discussed fall bulb planted and decided to meet on November 4 at 10am. The location of planting will be decided at the October 19th meeting. Park Board member Dickmann will purchase the bulbs. 7. PARK REPORTS Fairweather & Lid Gray asked about dying shrubs. Chief Burns gave an update on the after hours patrol at the park. He reported the officers had positive interactions with citizens. Board members expressed ongoing concerns regarding bicyclists. Indian Trail Gray reported looks great. Lake Lane Martin reported look great. Medina Beach Park Dickmann reported looks great. Medina Park Dickmann reported looks good and reported shrubs by south pond are overgrown. Viewpoint Park Gray reported looks fine. 8. REQUESTS FOR FUTURE AGENDA ITEMS Ideas for future agenda items: • Discuss the Plants that may need to be replaced at Fairweather Park. 9. ADJOURNMENT Meeting adjourned at 5:10 PM
