PARK BOARD MEETING MINUTES

MINUTES
Chairperson Gray called the meeting to order at 4:02 PM.
Board Present via Zoom: Dickmann, Gray, Johnston, McMullen, Moe,
Stengel (online 4:20 pm), Martin (online 4:40 pm),
Youth Advisor: Schubring (online 4:50 pm)
Board Absent: Bui
Staff Present via Zoom: Sauerwein, Osada, Nations, Crickmore, Kellerman,
Sergeant Gidlof
None.
ACTION: Motion Johnston second Moe and carried by a 5-0 vote.
Park Board Meeting of September 21, 2020
Recommendation: Adopt Minutes.

5. OLD BUSINESS
Update on 2021 Budget Ideas
Recommendation: Discussion item and direction.
Staff Contact: Ryan Osada, Public Works Director
Public Works Director Ryan Osada gave a brief update regarding the items to
research for 2021 Budget improvements. The Park Board discussed the options and
narrowed the list to the following to research: playgroup equipment (redesign), add
sensory area, move sandbox and add improvements to swim area at Medina Beach
Park.
2. Update on Tennis Court Usage
Recommendation: Update.
Staff Contact: Michael Sauerwein, City Manager
City Manager Michael Sauerwein gave an update on the new rules adopted by the
City Council for the tennis courts and informed the Park Board that new signage will
be added to the tennis court areas. The progress will be evaluated in Fall 2021 and
adjustments made is needed.
3. Update on Medina Park for Off/On Leash Dog Area
Recommendation: Update.
Staff Contact: Michael Sauerwein, City Manager
City Manager Michael Sauerwein gave an overview changes to the rules for dogs in
Medina Park that were adopted by City Council on Oct.12, 2020. New signage will be
added to the park and post cards will be mailed to residents.
6. NEW BUSINESS
1. Update on Fall Bulb Planting
a) Planting date November 4, 2020 at 10am
b) Planters on NE 8t'
The Park Board decided to meet at Fairweather Park at 10am. Gabriele Dickmann
confirmed the bulbs were ordered.
7. PARK REPORTS
Fairweather & Lid
Gray discussed the dying shrubs.
Indian Trail
Gray reported looks great.
Lake Lane
Martin and Moe reported looks good.
Medina Beach Park
Gray reported looks great.
Medina Park
Dickmann reported the shrubs are getting large and need
trimming.
Viewpoint Park
Moe reported looks fine and suggested a weeding party.
