SPECIAL MEETING

CALL TO ORDER: The special meeting of the Medina City Council
was called to order at 7:00 PM by Mayor King.
The meeting was tape recorded.
ROLL CALL: Present: Councilmembers Dietrich, Goldstein,
Messmer, Reagan, Vall-Spinosa, Yoler and Mayor
King
Staff Present: City Manager Dodge, City Clerk
Davis, Director of Public Safety Anglin
PUBLIC _HEARING
1988 Budget
Mayor King asked for public input. Hearing none, the Public
hearing was closed.
ACTION
Ordinance No. 466 - Adopting the 1988 Budget
Dietrich moved adopting Ordinance No. 466, Vall-Spinosa seconded,
carried.
Discussion followed.
The City Manager went through his memo which was distributed to
the Council. He recommended increasing the City Council budget
by $900 to accommodate a special council workshop. He also
recommended increasing the Data Processing budget by $2300 to
purchase a computer work station for Public Works Superintendent
Hammerquist.
He also recommended the following changes:
Increasing the Data Processing budget ty $2,300 to purchase a
computer work station for Public works Superintendent
Hammerquist, and that $20,000 of property tax be expended for
Capital Projects for furnishings for City Hall.
He stated the City planned on spending quite a bit more on
overlaying streets this year but time did not allow it. Money
will be carried over in the street fund to be expended next year.
Because of additional tax revenue tan was anticipated, and
additional cash on hand from the street department, the City
Manager proposed that the street fund transfer be decreased by
$20,000 and increase the transfer to Capital Projects by $20,000.
Messmer moved to amend proposed Ordinance No. 466 to decrease
City Street revenue and expenditure by $20,000 each and increase
Capital Projects revenue and expenditure by $20,000. Dietrich
seconded, passed. Ordinance No. 466 was passed as amended.
NEW BUSINESS
Letter of Resignation
Mayor King accepted a letter of resignation from Councilmember
Dietrich, Mayor Pro 'Tem, effective December 31, 1987.
Proclamation - National Drunk and Driving Awareness Week
City council recommended Mayor King execute the Proclamation.
Mayor King welcomed and introduced the Council elect members
Leland R. Ellis and Mark F. Mathewson.
AdJournment
Dietrich made a motion to adjourn the meeting at 8:00 PM,
Goldstein seconded, passed.
