SPECIAL MEETING
M I N U T E S
February 20, 1986

CALL TO ORDER: Mayor King presiding, the special meeting of the Medina City
Council was called to order at 7:00 p.m. in the Council Chambers
of the Medina City Hall.
ROLL CALL: Councilmembers Dietrich, Goldstein, Messmer, Reagan,
Vall-Spinosa, Yoler, and Mayor King were present.
City Attorney Wines was present for consultation. Mayor King asked Council -
member Yoler to take minutes during the Executive Session.
EXECUTIVE SESSION
The City Manager Search Committee presented their recommendation to the City
Council. Their first choice for the position, Donald P. Dodge, was present
and gave a brief resume' of his background and experience.
ADJOURNMENT: The Executive Session adjourned at 7:30 p.m.
PUBLIC MEETING
The Special Public Meeting was called to order at 7:35 p.m. by Mayor King.
Roll was taken and everyone remained in attendance. City Clerk Wyatt was
present to record the minutes.
Mayor King asked Vall-Spinosa, member of the Search Committee, to describe
the work done by the Committee. Vall-Spinosa said that there were over 75
_ applicants from all over the United States. After screening the applications,
they were able to narrow the candidates to 8 and, then, after more reference
checks, to 4 finalists. He stated that the Committee was in complete con -
census. Donald P. Dodge is their first candidate.
Val]-Spinosa moved that this Council accept Donald P. Dodge as our next City
Manager under the terms agreed upon on the application, motion seconded by
Reagan.
Messmer commended the Committee for their search and commended Mr. Dodge for
surviving the search. Mayor King expressed his approval of Mr. Dodge and
said we are very fortunate to have him join us effective March 24, 1986.
Mr. Dodge has agreed to the terms set forth in an appendage to these minutes.
Mayor King called for a vote on the motion, carried unanimously.
ADJOURNMENT: On a motion by Messmer, seconded by Reagan, and carried unani-
mously the meeting was adjourned at 7:43 p.m.

° 6 months performance review (probation period)
° Salary: $34,000.00/yr (Base)
° Educ. incentive: B.A. = 3%
° Additional 1% incentive upon completion of Masters Degree
Retirement: PERS II
° Medical: Employee only paid by City (AWC Plan)
° Dental: Employee and family paid by City
° ICMA Supplemental Retirement available - employee contribution only
FICA does apply
° Moving Allowance: 100% of actual moving expense plus one house hunting trip
• Education Allowance: 50% of books and resident tuition will be reimbursed
by City for completed coursework towards Masters Degree
° No auto allowance - use of private vehicle for City business reimbursed
on mileage basis
Approved by the majority of the Medina City Council in special session
