Are you available for: Evening Meetings Daytime Meetings Occupational Background I work in education and have done the following: Teaching English as another language in China, France and Japan. I have managed student programs for International students and visiting scholars at the University of Washington. I taught French to adults in the continuing Education program at Bellevue College and most recently have taught middle and high school students in Bellevue school district who are studying French. Educational Background BA in French and ESL certification from Western Washington University MA in Teaching and Learning French from Steinhardt school at New York University Reason for Applying I grew up in the pacific northwest and see such value in our public parks and green spaces. I hope to advocate and contribute to retaining and improving the parks and open spaces that are available to our residents and community members and the next generation. Additionally, I hope to be a part of educating and enabling Medina residents on ways they can contribute to having a positive impact on our environment via the plants in and care of their yards. Relevant Experience Our current property is large and predominantly full of native plants. I take pride in maintaining the property and learning about how to help the native plants thrive. When we purchased our current property, it had been neglected and invasive species such as English Ivy and Himalayan blackberries were growing rapidly,. We have managed to 7 AGENDA ITEM 5.1 pretty much eradicate these invasives on our property- all this has lead to much educating and learning about plants, natives and maintaining green spaces. Additionally, I took a landscaping course at Bellevue College and organized a community lead cleanup of Fairweather Park. Community Involvement I took the year off from teaching but have been an active volunteer at my children's school. Additionally, I have been an active volunteer for an organization called Babies of Homelessness and Seattle Humane Society.
