CITYOFMEDINAORDINANCENO188ANORDINANCErequiringtheinstallationofcertainwiringforteledtricpowermqdtelephoneservicetobeualdergroundTHECITYCOUNCILOFTHDCITYOFMEDINACO0RDAIIASFOLLOWSSection1ThepurposeofthisordinanceistoencouragetherealizationofcompleteelectricalpowerdistributionandtelephoneserviceinthecityundergroundasthearaewillservethepublichealthsafetyendwelfarebydecreasingtheincidentsofinterruptionsinelectricalpowerandtelephoneservicedecreasingthehazardtolifeofdownedlivepowerwiresandenhancingtheappearanceofthecityasthesamemaybeenjoyedbyitsinhabitantsandthepublicatlargeSection2UnderRroundwitinKrequiredDietsheprovisionofutilitiesinplatsshallincludeimprovementwithundergroundelectricalpowerandtelephoneservicetoeachbuildingsiteSection3UnderllroundwirinKstructureEntrancewiringforelectricalpowerserviceortelephoneservicetoeachstructureservedshallbebywayofundergroundwiringsothatnooverheadwiringforsuchpurposesisaddeduponthebuildingsiteorbetweensuchsiteandthesourceofserviceinthestreetprovidedhoweverthatthisrequirementshallhavereferenceonlytonewconstructionwhereifsuchnewconstructionbeforthepurposeofmodelinganexistingstructurethevalueoftheimprovementexceedsthatoftheproexistingstructureandthatiftheapplicantforabuildingpermitforsuchnewconstructionfilescompleteplansforthemosteconomicalsufficientinstallationofsuchundergroundserviceanddemonstratesthatthecostofsuchservicebyreasonofthepeculiarcircumstancesofhispropertywillbeextraordinarythenthisrequirementmaybewaiveduntilsuchtimeasthecompeLAngcircumstancesofdifficultyshallhavebeenobviatedSection4CodeSaferonceSection2hereofShellconstituteSection52037oftheMadinsCodeendSection3Section51026thereofandallothersectionshereofshallbeZconsideredofspecialortemporaryeffectSection5EffectivedatehisordinanceshalltakeeffectUpgnthe21dayofMarch1966PA3SEDbythetyCouncilonthe1dayofMrch1966ansgdinauthenticationofispassagetheemedayStephenFOnadIckJrCityAttorneyATTESTBernicedenCityGerkTHORNTONfHOMASIAYOR
