ORDINANCE NO 670
AN ORDINANCE REGULATING GATES
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MEDINA DO ORDAIN AS
FOLLOWS
SECTION 1 NMC CHAPTER 1240 ADOPTED
There is hereby added to the Medina Municipal Code
Chapter 1240 which is to read as follows
MEDINA NUNICIPAL CODE CHAPTER 1240 GATES
SECTION 1240010 Means of Entry for Emergency
Personnel Required
Every gate blocking vehicular access to a residence must
have a KNOX Box or similar device approved by the Fire
Marshall and Chief of Police allowing access to emergency
vehicles and personnel In addition each gate which relies
on electricity to open the locking mechanism
or the gate itself must have a manual release mechanism which
is activated by a power failure or another method of assuring
entry in event of a power failure which is approved by the
Fire Marshall and the Chief of Police
SECTION 1240020 Requirements for Gates
A gate is permitted for every residence provided
1 No gate or portion thereof shall be located within
any public right of way or any easement for a private lane or
private lane turnaround
2 No portion of any gate or associated structure
including columns and lights shall exceed the height limit
for fences

SECTION 2 EFFECTIVE DATE
This ordinance shall take effect five days after its
publication or the publication of a summary of its intent and
contents
PASSED BY THE CITY COUNCIL ON THIS 12t DAY OF June
2000 AND SIGNED IN AUTHENTICATION OF ITS PASSAGE THE 12th
DAY OF June 2000
