ESTABLISHING A POLICY FOR EMPLOYEE RECOGNITION AND WELLNESS
PROGRAM.
WHEREAS, in 2001 the City of Medina adopted Resolution No. 284 establishing
a policy for employee recognition of service, and
WHEREAS, in 2010 the City of Medina initiated a wellness program that benefi
its participants by promoting health and wellness through information services and
programs, and i

absenteeism, increased job satisfaction, improved fitness and health, and reduced
health care costs to the City. I
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of
Medina, rescinding Resolution No. 284 related to employee recognition and establishing
new employee recognition and wellness programs to include guidelines under which City
funds can be utilized for the purpose of encouraging employee wellness and recognition
as follows:
1 - The City of Medina or individual departments may, subject to budget
availability expend funds for the purpose of employee wellness and
recognition.
2. The expenditure of funds for a token of appreciation, award or similar item is
limited to no more than $100 total per employee per year and the number of
awards given must be limited to no more than teri percent of the total number
of employees,
no event shall the total of all awards/gifts received by an employee exceed
the non-taxable limit as set by the Internal Revenue Service.
4. The expenditure of meals related to an employee recognition event must be
authorized by the City Manager and may not exceed the per employee cost
of meals covered by the City travel policies.
