A RESOLUTION approving the report of DelLeuw,Cather & Company, engineering consultants, on the location of an additional Lake Washington Bridge, recommending construction of a span parallel to the existing Lake Washington Bridge. WHEREAS, an independent engineering survey by a firm of national reputation with the advice of a planning consultant of like reputation has determined that a parallel span doubling capacity to eight lanes will satisfy the needs of the most people and relieve increasingly intolerable traffic congestion to a much greater extent;and, WHEREAS, it appears that a parallel span can be more readily financed with a lesser toll spread equally among all benefited by relief of congestion, such that the improvement can be toll free at an earlier date; and, WHEREAS, a traffic circulation system having as its foundation parallel spans placing all lanes of travel nearest the average destination of commuters in Seattle and connected with the limited access facilities of Highway 2A on the east and the Seattle -Tacoma -Everett expressway on the west, appears best suited to the continued orderly development of the east side of Lake Washington and the City of Medina, Now therefore, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MEDINA DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS: The City of Medina by its City Council, after public hearing, approves the construction of a parallel span as recommended by the DeLeuw,Cather & Company report as the best improvement to cross Lake traffic facilities. THIS RESOLUTION adopted this 23rd day of July,1956. Attest: MARY FITIZGERALD, CITYCLERK WILLIAM E.
