RESOLUTION NO.-,&og
A RESOLUTION expressing the City Coun^il'- --. for declin-
ing to accept the lowest dollar bid in favor of tb, .....A +
the lowest in regard to its advertisement for bids for the
purchase of a backhoe and loader.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MEDINA DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1, second lowest dollar bidaccepted- The bid
of Cascade Tractor Company of Everett, Wr_shii:gton to supply a
rubber tired wheel tractor with loader and backhoe in the
dollar amount of $6,937.50 be and the same is hereby accepted
and the bid of International Harvester Sales in the amount of
$6,825.00 is declined, (the advertisement for bids having by its
terms indicated a reservation of the right of the City to
decline any or all bids), for the following salient reasons:
(a) a demonstrator model was called for and offered by
each of the two lowest bidders bnt that cf Cancado.
Tractor was for a machine which h:,A been used only
ten (10) hours for demonstration while that of
International was for a machine that had been used
two hundred and twenty (220) ho=s;
(b) the Ford's torque converter .also involved a power
reverser when that of the Ir L,,=1ational did not;
(c) the Ford was indicated to have more pushing power;
(d) it is deemed easier to load trucks with the Ford
because of the type of its torque converter;
(e) the Ford has lesser shin-.i-ng weight, to wit: 4,250
lbs. vs. 5,700 lbs. for the International; and,
(f) the Ford is deemed easier to handle in restricted
spaces.
The City is appreciative of the bid of International but deems
its dollar advantage of $112.50 distinctly outweighed by the
advantages of the particular Ford offered as enumerated above.
THIS RESOLUTION adopted this l2tb day of June, 1972.
