HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution No. 189CITY OF MEDINA, WASHINGTON RESOLUTION NO. 189 A RESOLUTION to the FAA dealing with aircraft overflights over the City of Medina and urging the implementation of programs to abate noise pollution resulting from such overflights. WHEREAS, the City of Medina is a city of quality neighborhoods; and WHEREAS, preservation of neighborhood quality is a high priority of the Medina City Council; and WHEREAS, there has been an increased volume of aircraft overflights over the City of Medina resulting from changed flight patterns; and WHEREAS, the City of Medina and its neighborhoods have experienced increased noise pollution as a result of aircraft overflights; and WHEREAS, the FAA has noise abatement programs; and WHEREAS, there are short- and long-term noise mitigation procedures which could reduce the impact of aircraft overflights on the City of Medina; now, therefore THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MEDINA, WASHINGTON, DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. The City of Medina urges the FAA to take all immediate steps to abate the current levels of noise pollution experienced by the City of Medina and its neighborhoods which result from aircraft overflights and to establish long-range programs for mitigation of aircraft noise.
