HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution No. 202CITY OF MEDINA, WASHINGTON RESOLUTION NO. 202 A RESOLUTION to thank Friends of the Medina Parks. WHEREAS, people entering Medina enjoy attractive plantings and seasonal flowers at some of the entrances to the city, and WHEREAS, similar plantings enliven many of Medina's parks, providing additional visual appeal to the parks and enhancing their enjoyment by all who use and view the parks, and WHEREAS, these plantings have been established and maintained through the volunteer efforts of a number of Medina residents, loosely organized under the name Friends of Medina Parks, and WHEREAS, the Friends of Medina Park have organized themselves into teams responsible for specific areas, these being A) Viewpoint Park: Barbara and Rolf Friele, John Frost, Don and Truby Klopfer, Martha and Jim Perry; B) 24th Street entrance to Medina: Ned Wells and the staff of Wells Medina Nursery; and C) Five Corners/Medina Park: Al and Betty Schneider, Mary Odermat, Toby Moore, Jim Barbee, John and Maureen Powers, Jane and John Campbell, Lisa Wells; and D) Fairweather Park: Bud Elliot, Jerry Sperling, Kathryn and Art Johanson, Bob DeButts, Dave and Penny Martin, Cathey Johnson, Jim Barbee, and Marian Brusselback with the assistance of Dorian Shuler, Gwynn, Tom and Ryan Beckwith; and WHEREAS, these volunteers, under the general guidance of the Medina Park Board and Michael Sheehan of the Medina Parks Department, have contributed many hours and much effort in the Planting, watering, weeding and maintenance of these areas, and WHEREAS, the Friends of Medina Parks, both individually and collectively, have shown commendable initiative and energetic enthusiasm in their efforts, and WHEREAS, the Friends of Medina Parks have, through their efforts, improved the visual appeal and quality of life in Medina without any additional expenditure of city funds, and WHEREAS, in so doing, the Friends of Medina Parks have provided a Positive example of community spirit and citizen involvement, NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council, on recommendation of the Park Board and on behalf of the City of Medina, hereby thanks and commends the Friends of Medina Parks for their dedication and continuing contribution of time and energy, and FURTHERMORE BE IT RESOLVED that a suitably prepared copy of this resolution be presented to each of the citizens named above as Friends of Medina Parks.
