HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution No. 268RESOLUTION NO. 268 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MEDINA URGING RELIEF FROM JET NOISE. WHEREAS, residents of the City of Medina have been bearing a disproportionate noise burden from Sea Tac International Airport flight operations; and WHEREAS, the number of Sea Tac operations have increased substantially in recent years and are predicted to increase further; and WHEREAS, the increasing aircraft noise has seriously impacted the quality of life of Medina residents. NOW, THEREFORE, be it resolved, that we, as the elected representatives of the residents of Medina, strongly advocate that: 1. The Port of Seattle and the Federal Aviation Administration make changes that reduce aircraft noise and improve the quality of life for Medina residents. 2. Where air traffic must take the East Turn during North Flow conditions, utilize methods to equitably distribute the noise impacts. The number of flights per hour and per day for any single community should be limited to a reasonable number wherever possible. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that: given that all communities surrounding Sea Tac International Airport benefit from the presence of the airport, there must be fairness in sharing the noise burden resulting from the Sea Tac flight operations.
