CALL TO ORDER The regular meeting of the Medina City Council was called to order at 8:00 A.M. by Mayor Becker. ROLL CALL Present: Councilmembers, Paul Demitriades, Thomas Morgan, Steve Preston, and Mayor Daniel Becker. Staff Present: City Manager Doug Schulze, and City Clerk Kristen Finnigan. DISCUSSION ORGANIZATIONAL STUDY Michael Pendleton, Organizational Consultant for the City was present to discuss the ongoing Organizational Study for the City. The main areas discussed were: a.) Planning b.) Building Inspection and Plan Review c.) Legal Services d.) Engineering e.) Landscape Consulting The three primary aspects of each which were explored were: a.) Service Concerns b.) Specific Examples c.) Areas/Remedies for Improvement TRAFFIC There was discussion regarding the handling of traffic and turning of traffic at 24th and 84th. Councilmembers expressed observations and concerns at the intersection. City Manager Schulze reported on the past weeks' Traffic Committee Meeting. He explained that a community meeting is planned for September 22nd. He stated that the purpose of this meeting would be to inform residents of the intent to restrict entrance to SR-520 between 5pm & 7pm, to 2 person HOV and buses. Mayor Becker said that WSDOT and Metro were in favor of this plan. NE 18TH STREET UNDERGROUNDING OF UTILITIES City Manager Schulze explained that he had met with Read Langenbach and Bill Holladay the day before and that the City was now ready to advertise for bids for the undergrounding of utilities work on NE 18th Street. Councilmember Preston moved to approve advertisement for bids. Seconded by Councilmember Demitriades, all were in favor.
