Discussion of 84`h Avenue NE Tree Replacement Program - City Manager Schuze requestec autnorizatior to enter
into an agreement with Overlake Golf Course and with St_ Thomas Chu~ch for replacement of signif!cant trees along
84t� Avenue NE. He noted both St- Thomas and Overlake had requested aty involvement to re—o ace these Poplar
trees and if approved city participation shouid be limited to 5G percent of removal and reQlacemen' costs- Cit�.
Manager Schulze indicated the Poplar trees adjacent to 8z`' Avenue NE between NE 12" St eet and NE 241° Street had
been designated as significant trees in the City of Medina Comprehensive Plan and were a gateway to Medina He
relayed arbonsts hired by the city and by adjacent property owners had oetermined a majority of the Poolar trees were
hazardous and should be removed. Addnorially. the city had rep,laced several hazardous Big Leo` Iflapie trees on NE
7t" Street. in an effort to maintain the neighborhooc character and due to tnelr being classified as si,-, ificant trees �e
