Good evening Medina City Council Members,
-TFhw--S / rL,
Thank you so much for your service to the community, it is a great gift and a credit to you as individuals
to volunteer your time and your familiy's patience to run for office and then spend four years, more in
many cases, serving our city. I have been a passionate supporter and worked on and endorsed several
of your campaigns so you know I genuinely believe in your good intentions and ability to represent the
best interests of the community. This has been an interesting and difficult political year for you and
many unanswered questions remain regarding the Jeff Chen personnel matter.
Tonight is the last time you'll be together as a body both in this meeting and the Executive Session to
follow where you will presumably evaluate your only employee the City Manager. I know you all want
the truth just as we do. Tonight is a perfect opportunity to seek clarity on a few issues. I know you
won't be able to answer me tonight, but please ask yourself, the City Manager and the City Attorney the
following questions;
• Was the council given the information about settlement agreement in March, and if not why
was the Mayor included in those discussions without the other council members?
• Are you sure you know when Stephanie Alexander was hired? Have you read all the Mercer
Island lawsuit information? Would you be surprised to know that the penalty incurred was a
result of documents Alexander and Michael Bolasina withheld?
• Was Michael Bolasina an attorney or an investigator? You can't have it both ways, sword and
shield. You led us to believe that he was an investigator. But now you're hiding documents
because he was an attorney.
• Would you be surprised to know that he was in the City representing Mark Weinberg in the late
summer of 2010 and was still representing him in December when the Austin Rohrbach case
suddenly settled?
• Why am I just learning about the "states investigator, a neutral third party, has subpoenaed
information from a large corporation"?
I have gathered some documents for your review and to be entered into the public record. They include
a DVD with 10 minutes of video from the June 13, 2011 council meeting, additional questions, and a
number of emails I have reviewed and found to be confusing, frustrating, illuminating and/or
disrespectful to the public who elected you.
Finally, it is my understanding that the 2011 City Council hosted a Staff Appreciation party at the home
of one council member. The invitation was written on behalf of all council members except for Shawn
Whitney. Needless to say, I am surprised and disappointed that any of you would initiate, participate or
condone such a petty, immature and retaliatory action. I am certain that is not the type of manners or
example you wish to teach your children, and I am sure you agree that an apology is in order.
Thank you for your time and to you outgoing council members, thank you for your service.
